Sizzix XL scallop die projects

I have a few project to share using the Sizzix XL scallop die- many fun and creative ways to use this die.  National Scrapbook day and Mother's Day is next weekend (May7,8),  so I'd like to share a few  'mom' or 'mom-to-be' projects.

The finished die shape measures 3.5 x 10.5 inches so you do need the extended cutting mats with your machine. The scallop edging cuts around the entire shape and there is a pre-scored line in the middle to create a perfect and clean fold.

Here is the shape used as a standard card base.  Again, loving the scallop edging- so pretty. Shown on the card are 3D Reddy paper tole flowers.  This would make a lovely card for Mom or someone really special.

For mom-to be's how about a really special baby shower invitation?  Using 1/2 the scallop page and  trimming each page one scallop height shorter than the previous layer - you can create a wonderful cascading effect.  Details of the event would be revealed on each layer.

Make a little mini-album in a flash!  Just nestle 3 to 4 folded cards together and you have the base for a perfect little album ready for photos and journaling!

The next project is my favourite!  I first saw this idea last year in Creating Keepsakes magazine.  Unfortunately my scrap space is a total mess and I can't find the article to give credit to the original creator (if anyone has this info, please let me know!).  This is a rolodex type of album.  The frame is a very inexpensive Ikea picture frame called the Tolsby.  Remove the acrylic in between the frame so that you have an open window.  The window measures just a little larger than 3.5 x 5.5 inches--perfect for one half of the scallop.  Decorate the little pages, punch a few holes at the top, attach the pages with rings or ribbon to the frame and..voila! you have a very cute desk display!

I made one using WR Memory Keeper Family Keepsake collection to celebrate all things family. You could adapt different themes..how about a mini organizer for the home office, a recipe collection, or just daily inspiration quotes?

2012 Calendar album

Yes! that's right I'm already thinking ahead for next year.  This is a 2012 calendar album I created.  Included in the kit is a beautiful brown flocked 6 x 6 album, printed monthly calendar pages, pattern paper and coordinating embellishments.  The theme is family.  You will have lots of embellies leftover for cards or other crafty projects.   Here's a peek at the pages I created, the colours are greens and blues, very neutral and you can definitely add pops of accents to coordinate with your photos.   These kits are available in limited quantities.  Pick up a kit and get a head start on your holiday gift ideas, the calendar would make wonderful gifts for teachers too (end of June will be here in a blink of an eye).

Easter Eggcitement!

Easter is fast approaching and 'eggcitment' is in the air!  Here's a cute, fun and easy craft (you know me..it's all about easy-peasy...) project you can make in a matter of minutes.  Perfect to do with the wee ones in family to get them involved in the 'eggcitement'!

It's a little easter basket that requires a few simple folds and no glue.  This was a tutorial I posted over on Scrapbook and Cards Today's blog last week.  Please click here for the step-by-step instructions.  Enjoy!
