Shake it up with a window card!

I'm up on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog sharing  a very quick and easy window style card, this is a great way to use up your sequins, rhinestones and beads stash.

All you need is a clear cello bag and your choice of filler.   I’m going with green sequins to coordinate with some fabulous Simple Stories Charmed Life pattern papers.  You can purchase little clear cello bags at a packaging store or save them from the packaging of your craft purchases.

Scoop some sequins into the cello bag.  Grab your card front and punch a small circle, this is your window.  Imagine the possibilities if you have a digital cutter- you could cut a fancy shape or title element.

Flip your card front over and adhere the cello bag filled with sequins lining it up to the window.
Use foam adhesive to glue the card front to your card base and voila you’ve just made a cute little shaker style window card!

Didn’t I say that was easy? have fun adding shaker windows to your cards, have a wonderful day!

March Greetings!

First day of March, yahoo!  Spring season is just a few weeks away and hopefully this means warmer days are ahead.  Let's put our collective minds together and 'will' the warmer weather.  For some added gusto to willing Spring days I am sharing a snowy layout to make Winter an official memory.  Yup, experienced it, took the photo, scrapbooked it and let's slip the page into an album and close the book....bye bye minus 20 degrees days!!

My layout is based on March PageMaps sketches.   New sketches are released today, to check them out just hop on over to PageMaps here.  Becky has created some awesome pocket style sketches.  I'm a clean, simple and linear scrapbooker at heart and although I don't scrap pocket style per se it's definitely a design that can be used for traditional page composition.

I chose this single 12 x 12 sketch:

I followed the sketch pretty closely.  The products I used are Simple Stories pattern papers from the Color Vibe collection pack and the journal cards are from the Snap line.  You would think matching to Anna's blue winter jacket would be easy, on the contrary there are some many hues, tones and intensity of blues.  To tackle this problem I just went with the teal blue from Simple Stories collection and kept it consistent throughout the design as the paper patterns (dots, chevrons, stripes etc) provide enough interest and variation.  The penguin diecut is so adorable and I took the cue from the it's red had to add some pops of colour here and there.  The top left hand corner of the sketch I took a 6 x 4 journal card with the pre-printed JAN word and used it as a base and layered the title to create the title 'JAN FUN'.

Thanks for stopping by!
