June PageMaps!

New sketches are up at PageMaps!  Definitely worth checking out some fabulous pages, this month PageMaps teamed up with designers from Pink Paislee.

I chose to work with this single 12x12 sketch.

The page I created is about a sushi restaurant minutes away from our house.  It's sort of like our 'Cheers' for sushi.  It's not an 'all you can eat' restaurant which I like because we all know what happens when it AYCE (too much of a good thing!).  We walk in and they give us our usual booth if it is available, they know to give us extra little plates because we order family style and the free crunchy noodle broth to start is always a favourite, okay now I'm hungry!

Fun DIY Photo Booth

Yay! FINALLY-Some nice weather and I think it is here to stay, woot!
Just wanted to share a quick photo booth I made for my daughter's birthday sleepover recently.  A photo booth is permission to be silly and fun, although I don't think you need much nudging when you have a gaggle of teenage girls together, lol.

All the images and designs were found on Pinterest by my daughter.  She was excited about some new emojis and if you are looking at the brown image on the lower left corner and thinking that looks like hmm..yes you are right, sigh (silly eh!).  The summer images are from Kristen Duke photography and you can download them here.  I also cut out some funky glasses with the Silhouette cameo.

Making the photo frame is pretty easy, all you need is a foam core board, an exacto knife and a ruler.  I found the foam core from the Dollarama way easier to work with than the Elmer's foam core board.  I could not get a clean cut with the Elmer's foam core because the outside layer is really thick and then the foam on the inside separates and spoils the clean edge.  Have a scrappy day!

May Greetings!

Sorry I have not posted here lately, it has just been so c-r-a-z-y!!!

April was a busy month for scrapbooking events.  I taught at Kitchener Scrapfest, Winnipeg Crop and Create and attended the Toronto Creativ Festival.  Teaching and inspiring others to create something with their hands out of paper and glue is always a wonderful time.  Had awesome classes at both Scrapfest and Crop and Create, it was fantastic to see familiar faces and meet some new ones too!

In the last while, I've been thrown a little curve ball dealing with some health issues, suffice it to say when you get lemons-make lemonade!  I'm happy to say that I'm feeling much better, more sweet than sour 'lemonade' in the future.  I will say that during some low times, keeping busy with my crafting was very healing as being in a creative zone puts me in a happy place.  Yes, scrapbooking is good for the mind, body and soul!

Here is a page I created using May PageMaps sketches.  Since it was National Scrapbook Day May 2, there are some fabulous free cutting files offered by PageMaps.  Click here to download them.

The free cut file I used was this really cute heart tag that I made into a shaker tag.

Hope to see you at Crop and Create!
I am stoked to teach at two Crop and Create events this coming Fall.  I'm so happy to be returning to Thunderbay Crop and Create on September 18 and then teaching at my first Cornwall Crop and Create the following week on Sept 25!  All the details for these fabulous events can be found here!

I am also super excited to be teaching workshops at One Crazy Stamper on Saturday May 23 and at Two Scrapbook Friends on Saturday June 6!

One Crazy Stamper- Pocket Full of Memories Workshop- Create a 6x8 pocket style album.  You will love the ease,  simplicity and versatility of working with pocket style scrapbooking.  You'll play with a plethora of goodies and to create some beautiful foundation pages just waiting to hold your cherished memories.  More workshop details here!

Pocket Full of Memories Album workshop

Two Scrapbook Friends- Photo Collage seminar and Mega Layouts workshops!

1) Photo collage - This is a demonstration on how to use a computer tool called Photosheet to create unique arrangement of photos within a certain template size.  You will learn how easy it is to size multiple photos to fit 6x4, 4x4, 12x12 print formats just to name a few!  Seminar details can be found here.

2) Memories Records Mega Layouts workshop- Nothing is more important than to record your family stories.  I've included lots of goodies from some of my fav companies (Simple Stories, Crate Paper, American Crafts, Carta Bella) in your class kit that are perfect to create fabulous and fun pages  (5 double layouts!) to record everyday moments, milestones, celebration or anything in between.

April PageMaps!'s a beautiful Spring day and April PageMaps are here!  You can check out April's sketches here.  PageMaps teamed up with Simple Stories this month for some wonderful inspiration.

I chose to use this sketch:

I love the different pattern pieces in the background of this sketch.  Instead of pattern paper pieces I opted for journal cards.  This fun and colourful pack is from Bella Blvd, they are double sided which is a bonus because I was able to use both sides of the cards.

Here is my 8.5 x 11 page, using just journal cards, it came together very quickly!

Have a wonderful day!

Stickers and Twine!

Who's love stickers? who has twine?

I do!

Picking up the coordinating sticker sheet along pretty pattern papers go hand in hand for me.  I also like to pop up stickers for added dimension.  The downside is that sometimes the sticker dips down in the area where you don't have foam adhesive.

No problem, some twine to the rescue!  Place your foam adhesive first behind the sticker and then use some twine in the areas around the foam adhesive.  Easy peasy!  This little trick came in handy when I wanted to pop up this pretty cursive word.

Some of you may recognize the background of this layout, it is one of the pages from my Family Layouts class I taught a few weeks ago at Markham Crop and Create using Simple Stories papers.

The couple in the photo are my parents from their wedding 50 years ago, I love how the photo fits perfectly with the page's theme.

March PageMaps!

March greetings!  It's a new month and new PageMaps sketches are here!  This month Fancy Pants designers teamed up with PageMaps and you can check out all their beautiful inspiration here.

I chose to use this vertical 8.5 x11 sketch.  I think I've mentioned this before, I am enjoying scrapbooking with this smaller format and I don't think I am giving up too much creative canvas space at all so if you are on the fence I say try it!

Anna recently achieved a new karate belt level, purple! you might have guessed that from the colour scheme of the page.  At every belt level, there are 2 photos that capture the moment, the time she receives her certificate and a photo of her and her Sensai.  I have these same photos of her at every belt level so when I saw this 2 photo sketch I knew it would be perfect!

I shrunk her certificate down to 30% size and essentially that was my journaling done!

February PageMaps!

Happy February!  new sketches are up at PageMaps, you can check them out here!

I created a 12x12 page about a trip to Costco and coming across the biggest bear ever!  I am sucker for stuffies and I oohed and aahhed over this gigantic soft cuddly bear.  I seriously contemplated stuffing it into my shopping cart as an early birthday gift to me (this justifies it right, lol) but I didn't go through with it.  Our next visit to Costco I had in my mind, if the bear was still there it would likely come home with me, but alas I should have known the 'Costco rule'- if you see something and you really like, buy it because chances are it won't be there on your next visit.  The Costco rule holds bears to be seen, oh well at least I have a fun memory of it.

Hope you have bear-y wonderful day!

Save the date, April 10/11 2015 for Scrapfest Kitchener

Just imagine, cropping, shopping and crafting over 2 days all under one roof!  I am thrilled to be teaching alongside these talented and fantastic teachers -Cathie Allen, Vicki Boutin and Agnieszka Bellaidea!

The last workshop, Let's talk photos, size matters! is a new format that I'm eager to teach.  This is a seminar style class where I'll share with you some creative options to resize your photos before you send them to your photo lab or print at home.  I'll demonstrate a free software utility called Photosheet (for Windows PCs).   With a few drags and clicks you get some awesome photo collage configurations.  Combine free digital journal cards alongside your photos are just a few benefits of using this photo collaging tool.  Walk away with know-how and fresh ideas for creative scrapbooking possibilities with photo resizing.

New! Basic Grey Adrift and Prism collections

Was super excited to be asked by Basic Grey to create a few projects using their 2 newest collections Adrift and Prism!

Let talk Adrift!  this is an aquatic and nautical themed collection.  Spending a lot of time 'adrift' on Georgian Bay during summer months I see many projects in my future with this line!

Here is my first page,  I used the ocean page as my base and by strategically covering up ocean labels, you get a realistic Georgian Bay background.

My second project using Adrift captures the memories of a visit to Ripley's Aquarium.  You get many letters in the chipboard tile alphabet set, I still have lots left over after the long title on this page.

Next up is the Prism collection.  This is a really versatile collection of cute geometric shapes and is great for girl or boy pages.

My cousin's daughter Ava here, she is so cute playing school and lining up her stuffies for story time!

Last project using Prism, selfies (of course!) of my daughter.  Love her fun spirit!

Had so much creating these projects, thanks for dropping by!
