All About Me page

We had a challenge on the Doodlebug blog to create an 'All about Me' project.  My approach here was to create some cute embellishment clusters relating to some random facts about me.

I kept the circular design elements consistent throughout the page.  I loved using the theme related washi tape to ground the embellishment clusters.   Hope you take some time documenting yourself, as memory keepers we don't do enough of this, have fun!!

Creating pocket tags!

Tag mini albums are a great way to showcase your memories in a fun and compact format.  By keeping the pocket tags clipped together on a ring, you can keep adding to the mini with more photos at your own pace.

The base pages of my pocket tag mini album are made from 3.5"x11" strips of card stock.  Score and fold each strip at the 5 inch mark, adhere the sides together and you have an instant pocket tags! Embellish the outside with photos/ephemera and tuck a journaling card into the pocket to document those special moments!

The theme of my mini is school graduation and the Hats Off collection is so perfect to cherish this milestone.  Another awesome project could be a collection timeline of those yearly school photos!

Doodlebug chunky twine!

One of my favourite go-to items in my scrapbooking stash is twine!  Love that Doodlebug has chunky twine and lighter weight twine, both types available in a rainbow of happy colors!

For my project, I wrapped some chunky twine around the middle portion of a tag for a fun textured foundation.

I stitched a few buttons onto the tag using the lighter weight twine.

I chose some cute embellishments from the Fairy Tales collection (love the happy faces on the icons) and the title 'happy' to finish the tag.

Creating with Odds and Ends

Hello! it's Virginia here on the blog today to share with you my Odds & Ends only project.   There are so many delightful die cuts included in each pack and just when you think you've dipped in to use every last bit, there is still more!  For my layout, I layered die cuts from At The Zoo collection, it was so easy to create a fun scene with all the cute animals.  When creating a layered collage I find it easier to layer the elements on a separate card stock base (sometimes I'll even take a picture) and then I'll transfer each die cut to it's final spot on my layout.  Have fun using up your Odds & Ends!

Doodlebug and PageMaps!

I love using PageMaps sketches as an inspirational starting point for my layouts.  I love the flexibility to either follow a sketch closely or key off an element in the sketch that I'm drawn to.   The sketch shows a vertical block and journal card that became the starting point of my design plan.  I wanted to keep to a red and white theme so instead of mixing pattern papers as per the sketch I opted to use white doilies on the white page base just to add a hint of texture.  This page came together by combining two fun collections, Cream & Sugar and Yankee Doodle!

Doodlebug Yankee Doodle collection

Hope you are having a fabulous start to the Summer season! I might have mentioned this once or twice before but I love how Doodlebug collections are so versatile to create with.  The Yankee Doodle collection is beautiful and stunning with silver foiled papers and embellishments.

I have Disney vacation photos that are work-in-progress, I don't pressure myself to scrap it all, there are just too many photos (who can relate?).  When scrapbooking vacations I like to mix traditional 12x12 pages with pocket pages.  Did you know Doodlebug pocket pages are side-loading? this means that they are sealed at the both top and bottom edges to prevent your photos and pocket cards from falling out- love that!

Here are a couple of fun cards using the doodle-pops!

Pinterest Inspiration

I saw this honeycomb shelf on Pinterest and I love it's fun shape and the way each honeycomb draws your attention to the item on display.  Inspired by these shelves, I thought it would be a great design foundation to show off all those cute Doodlebug embellishments on a scrapbook page!

I chose a white page base (like a blank white wall) , cut out hexagon frames in various sizes and clustered some embellishments in each frame.  I didn't embellish too much outside the frames as I wanted the page to be clean and simple with the focus on the honeycomb frames.  Thanks for stopping by the blog today and have a wonderful crafty day!

Doodlebug Hats Off release!

Loving recently released Hat's Off collection by Doodlebug!   The silver foil papers, ephemera and transparencies are simply stunning!  You can definitely use this collection for more than just graduations, I'm thinking anniversaries, parties and other special memories.

Here on my page, I love anything with stripes so I couldn't resist using the silver foiled striped paper as the backdrop to my photos.  Have you noticed the cute shaped clips that come with every collection?  So easy to just clip them to the edges of your paper and you add instant pizzaz on your project!

For my second page, the base paper is an embossed velvet paper and the texture is so rich (I hope you can see it in the photo)!  The delicate vellum dot paper is perfect to run through die-cuts and punches, here I made some pretty vellum butterflies with silver sprinkles.

At the Zoo with Doodlebug!

Love Doodlebug latest zoo release and all the cute animal prints and adorable animal icons in this collection!

For my zoo page,  I had a plan to balance the large landscape photo with a vertical element but since I only had one other photo I opted to use pattern paper in the place of where a 3rd photo would be.  The animal icons are so cute, I used a doodle-pop along with some of the animals from the mini icons sticker sheet.

For my 2nd page, I clustered some tropical elements along with the monkey for a playful approach to a funny scrapbook memory.  I matted one of the cut-a-apart cards side-by-side flush with the photo to caption the gist of the memory.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, hope you have a wonderful crafty day!

Doodlebug Dragon Tails

Can I please get a huge WOOT! WOOT! for this adorable collection Dragon Tails!  I'm a blues/greens kinda gal and this collection is so versatile,  I see lots of projects in my future!

I created an 8.5x11 page using some of the 6x6 papers, I love that the papers are on a smaller scale showcasing the beautiful patterns in this collection.  I accented the photo using a few doodle pops, fun card stock stickers and die cuts!

For my next page I created a clean and simple page and used the pre-sewn mini garlands.  How awesome to get that home-made sewn look with no effort!

There are so many cute birthday-themed elements in this collection, who can resist making a cute birthday card!  I used a treat bag as the base for either a hidden message or gift card holder.  Hope there is a little 'roaring' crafting time in your future!

Doodlebug-Fairy Tales

I didn't think paper crafting could get any happier until you add rainbows, unicorns, and sparkly shape sprinkles! I have to admit I use to hoard sprinkles but now I give myself 'permission' to use them so I made a little starburst pattern using sprinkles and twine.  I love that these sprinkles have glitter in them for that extra sparkle!

Do you ever hit a road block when it comes to journaling? if so journal-lift a quote.  I used the quote 'you are the gold at the end of the rainbow', this quote was taken from one of the 4x6 cut-apart cards and was the exact sentiment fitting the photo.

The 4x6 cut-apart cards also make awesome card bases.  I love the clouds and unicorns of this 4x6 card . The cardstock stickers are perfectly sized (a bit smaller) so that I can pop them up onto the same image on the card giving them a doodle pop-esque effect.  Adding a few stickers and sprinkles  you have an fabulous card in minutes!

The next card uses one of the card stock sticker tags as the main sentiment for the card. Again I love using ready-made elements in putting a card together! Hope you all have a magical crafty day!
