Viewmaster Layout with Doodlebug Down on the Farm!

I have fond childhood memories with viewmaster slides!  I loved the clicking action as you advanced through the reel and the fun anticipation of what was going to show up in the viewer.   Today, I'm sharing an idea to incorporate this retro theme into your scrapbook album and make it inter-active too!

I started with a viewmaster die cut (cut with my digital cutter). I placed my photos and decorated a few windows with the uber cute shape sprinkles!

To make the viewmaster slide turn in your scrapbook album, a spinner mechanism is needed.  Connect two circles (one 2.5 and one 4 inches in diameter ) together with a brad in the center.  The viewmaster slide is adhered on top of the smaller circle only and the larger circle is adhered to the page base (measures 10.5x12 inches) that will sit in the page protector.

Next, take your 12x12 album page protector and trim away 1.5 inches from the left side.  (yes, it's okay to cut your page protector, lol ) The opening at the top is closed with washi tape so that this becomes a side loading page.  The viewmaster hangs out over the left side so that you can spin the reel!  The jelly clips on the side can be used as handles to help with the spinning action.

Thanks for taking the journey down memory lane with me, have an awesome day!

Onion Envelope!

I love making little mini albums because you can include lots of little photos and cute embellishments to tell your story.  The mini album I'm sharing with you today is a bit of a hybrid, it can house plenty of photos but it folds up very compact making it very convenient to send it away to loved ones.  I've named this hybrid mini album the Onion Envelope.  It's a layering of envelope templates with an accordion file nested in the centre.  There are lots of little nooks and crannies to place your photos and journaling.

The next few photos show the sequence of the onion envelope as you open it.

Here's a little video to show how the onion envelope works!

If you have a scoring board, you can score, fold , cut and create an onion envelope too!

Adhere the accordion folder onto the middle of the smaller envelope template.  Close up the smaller template (with the accordion folder inside) and then adhere it to the middle of the larger envelope template to complete the assembly.  Have fun adding photos and embellishments!
