Graphic 45 and Scor-pal

Graphic 45's Bird Song collection is made up of beautiful Asian inspired motifs.  I created a 12 x 12 page by layering a few patterns and fussy cutting out some tags and lanterns.  I used the Scor-pal tool to create the half rosette by scoring a 10 x 1.5 inch strip in .25 inch intervals.

This layout celebrates a very special memory when we were in China and my daughter was  presented with a gift from China's Cultural Affairs Minister.  A booklet of finely silk stitched Asian symbols of the Chinese Zodiac.

Supplies: Graphic 45 Bird Song collection, Scor-pal tool, American Crafts card stock.

This is my last assignment with the Scor-pal creative team.  It's has been a fabulous and creative journey, I've learned so much from the gals on the Scor-pal DT these past 2 years and I'll definitely be a fan and stalker of the Scor-pal blog!

Punch it with chevrons!

I love border punches and when I first saw this EK punch on the store shelf I immediately snagged it because I was in search of a zig zag edger.  With much anticipation I tried it out and then realized it was not an edge punch but an actual punch out (yes, totally my fault in not reading the packing correctly!).  I have to admit I was a little deflated but after a few punches my buyer’s remorse instantly took a turn for the better.  This punch is awesome in cutting out the cute chevron borders so clean,  exact and precise- I love it!!  Here are a few cards I made using this punch:

Punching out a few chevron borders from coordinating pattern papers is a quick way to ground your card with style:

Use the punch border on opposite sides of your paper mat to create a slot that you can thread a wide banner through it for some added interest:

I couldn't resist a spooky Halloween card by making this oogly spider, super easy peasy!

I'm so glad I gave this punch a second chance!
Have a great day!

Cutest Pumpkin Ever

Ten months ago yesterday this world was blessed with the arrival of a sweet angelic little boy, you can see this post here.  Today his big eyes, beautiful smile and happy spirit will melt anyone's heart in an instant.   Happy 10 months little guy! xo

This page combines something old (Fancy Pants winter paper), something new (Echo Park Fall Reflection paper) and something adorable (obviously, the baby!).

Thanks for stopping by, Virginia

World Card Making Day!

Hey there, did you know today was World Card Making day! Hopefully you can carve a little time out of your busy weekend and play with a little bit of paper and glue!

I always like to have a stack of birthday cards on hand.  I chose my 'bread and butter' go-to supplies like punches, buttons, and some twine!  I found an amazing package of journal birthday cards at Michaels, love that they are bright, cheerful and so easy to use.

Here are the cards I ended up making in jiffy and now my card stash is stocked up again!

Happy World Card Making to all!

Apples- so sweet!

It has been a great year for apple orchards this Fall here in southern Ontario, the fruit has been bountiful and sweet.  Here is a peek at some great memories at the orchard last weekend.  This layout came together super quick.

Some of my tips that can make creating a page easy peasy! I print out my photos at home and I absolutely love my Epson PictureMate.  Yes- cost per photo is a little more expensive but why print 100's of images when you only need a few to create a page.  I can resize and print white borders around my photos and the quality is top notch.  Photos with borders instantly pop them off the page  and saves paper in matting them.

With some circle punches you can inject some fun and colour to your background, still loving the chevrons so I used some leftover My Minds Eye papers in my stash.  The apples are Martha Stewart punches so cute!

I take photos of signs where we are and this makes for an instant title!

Have a wonderful weekend!
