Christmas Memories Folio Workshop

Yes, you read that right...Christmas!  Please know that I am very torn about fast tracking through Autumn and into Christmas.  I love them both- who am I kidding!  And my excuse is that I'm always working a season or two ahead when planning for workshops.

I have been wanting to create a countdown to Christmas mini album workshop for some time and so when I was searching for the latest products and inspiration I came upon Tim Holtz's video from CHA 2014 introducing his kraft Collections folio album.  Well, my jaw just dropped because within minutes into his video my mind was racing...and fast!  The basic construction of the folio album is just begging for adding in fun flips, flaps and folds-totally rings the bell for me ding! ding! ding!

My idea for the countdown album is that you could use it to document one Christmas, everyday leading up to Christmas, a collection of Christmases past, family holiday traditions, your favourite holiday recipes...see the list just goes on and on!  And as a little bonus I've include extra supplies and instructions to create a double page Christmas layout in your class kit, woot!

I'm stoked to share with you some peeks at my Christmas Memories Folio workshop that I will be teaching at One Crazy Stamper on Saturday November 22, 10am to 1pm.

You can read all about the class details, what supplies to bring and how to register here.

A peek at some products that we will be playing with  ( I've added more since I took this photo)-  A 7x9 folio album, a mix of Carta Bella and Teresa Collins holiday papers, some specialty fabric paper, die cuts,  trims, sequins and jewels.  Mix these beautiful products together and you are going to have one treasured keepsake!  The projects samples are on display at One Crazy Stamper if you would like to check it out.  In the meantime here are a few close-up images.

Thanks for stopping by!

A pretty card using envelope seals

I have to admit I really get a kick going to an office supply store, so when Anna needed to head to Staples for her back-to-school supplies...twist my arm LOL!  Seeing rows and rows of products all neatly organized in columns  just makes my heart sing...I tell you it's my need for being linear, clean and organized!  Did I ever tell you one of my summer student jobs was working at the shoe department at Woolco's (you might remember them? they are gone now and replaced by replaced by Target).  So my job was to keep the shoes organized and boy did I ever take that challenge seriously smaller sizes on top, by colour and style.

Back to papercrafting--> This was a card I posted for the SCT blog last week.  I came upon these envelope seals (and yes I hate licking envelopes...ew...gross so I like to use pretty envelope seals)!   They also make great accents for cards, just peel and stick.  The ones shown here are clear and silver rimmed, love that!  Hope you are inspired to dig through your office drawer and create!

Colour Suite Challenge

This month I was invited by Summer  Fullerton to take part in her Colour Suite challenge.  She sent me this awesome colour palette and said to 'create whatever fancys me' just using the colour as the jumping off inspiration point.  I was immediately drawn to the the blue she chose, I love the intensity of the navy blue, it is such a classic and timeless colour. I also love the chartreuse green and red so I wanted to use that on my page for pops of brightness and colour.

Here is the page I created.  I gathered all the navy blue supplies from an array of collections in my stash- Teresa Collins, Carta Bella, and Little yellow bicycle.  Isn't the photo of this little boy the best? I don't often do one photo layouts but in the case he is the star of the page!

Thanks Summer for this wonderful challenge, I had so much fun.  Summer also creates a project for this, please check out her blog here!

Throwback Thursday

Here is a page that definitely makes it a throwback-the colour pink!  I haven't seen pink in Anna's wardrobe in many many years.  She pretty much declared herself a 'blue girl' since grade 1 and said bye-bye to anything pink.  I remember creating this layout using fun ways to add texture on the page, I sewed with embroidery thread (this is when I had to buy the embroidery thread in the yarn section of the craft store vs the scrapbooking aisle) and I made my own pattern paper thickers by running the fun foam through my Quickutz (now Lifestyle crafts).  I also remember trying to come up with a catchy title and liking 'knot-ical helper' thought it was pretty clever if I don't say so myself- ha!

Here is another throwback page using emboss-ables.  Do you remember these?  For the life of me I cannot remember the manufacturer who made these embossed 12x12 sheets- they were mainly themed and you would either fussy cut out elements or sometimes they were pre-cut for you.  There was a sheet of 12x12 embossed alphabet tiles which I loved and used on this page.  Also a throwback is that I have angled my photos which is a huge departure of my typical linear and straight style today.  You know looking back, I'm liking the non-linear-ness (word??) of this page, lol.

Thanks so much for dropping by! xo

September PageMaps

September PageMaps are available so if you are needing fabulous inspiration check out some new sketches here!

For my assignment I chose this sketch:

I whole heartedly mean when I say using Becky's sketches (owner and creator of PageMaps) really jump starts my creativity when I begin page.  These photos were taken in the morning, I printed them at home (love my Epson Charm Picturemate photo printer!) and then completed my page in very little time on the same day- love it when the process comes full circle!

"Sketches-they are a good thing"- (in my best Martha Stewart impersonation, lol)

Scrapfest Richmond Hill and Cropfest Cambridge!

September greetings!  Today is a day of many 'firsts' for many of us!  First day back to school, first day back from summer vacation, first day back to battling traffic rush hour...etc.  Looks like Summer weather may be with us for the first part of this month, yay!

So let's get back to some scrappy planning.  Did you know that Scrapfest is heading to Richmond Hill this coming September?  Should be an awesome event, there will be lots of shopping and inspiration for you all under one roof.  You can check out all the details here!

I'll be teaching at Cropfest Cambridge! So excited Lisa invited me back again this year.  I have 2 classes planned for Saturday November 8, 2014.  You can find all the details and registration for Cropfest here.  Hope to see you there!

Here are some images and details of my workshops here:

A Charmed Life Layouts workshop (3 double pages)

Discover how fun it is to play with beautiful patterned papers, make some fabulous DIY accents and achieve beautiful layers in your scrapbook layouts using journal cards, die cuts and much much more.  Learn to make a beautiful starburst pattern technique, a shaker box tag, and pinwheels are just a few awesome ways to pizzazz to your scrapbook pages!  Lots of beautiful papers and embellishments from Simple Stories A Charmed Life and My Minds Eye collection in this class!

A Christmas to Remember (File Folder mini album)

My second workshop is a little Christmas mini album!  Perfect little project to make ahead for the Holiday season.  I love designing things from everyday items, and this album template is made using file folders, with a little scoring and folding you have the perfect folio for your special memories. This awesome little mini album fits perfectly into a mailing envelope so you can send your gorgeous creation away to friends and family.  Guaranteed that once you learn to make one you are sure to make a few more!!

Have a wonderful day!
